Many who rely on food pantries and soup kitchens struggle to eat a balanced diet, because fresh produce is expensive and difficult to store. As a result, many food pantries and soup kitchens, including those right here in our own community, require regular donations of fresh produce.
Every month, the Niles Township Food Pantry serves over 5,000 people, and our sack lunch team serves nearly 50 guests. Both are always in need of fresh produce. To help meet this need and share the bread of life with our neighbors, St. Timothy's Lutheran Church has partnered with Cradles, Cribs, and Crayons Early Childhood Education Center in Skokie to tend The Healthy Garden, raising and harvesting vegetables for distribution in our community.
